i tried all your tips but none works. NSDCars5 Thanks man!! I've never made a backup of my registry so I cannot restore it. Despite this the screen fonts in Firefox 46 appeared bold and italicized. Granted, after 15 days I will have to buy a license for Crossfont…but i only needed it to get a load of Truetypes converted once.

I have a good backup of my fonts folder with all the fonts. You use Font Book to verify fonts and to locate corrupted fonts. This process will restore all customized font and color settings made by you in Windows theme like changing font type, font size, font color, etc. This was getting super annoying and #4 worked!

If you have a file arial.ttf in C:\Windows\Fonts you will also have a registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\Fonts which associates the Arial font with the specific file C:\Windows\Fonts\arial.ttf.
